Position Summary:

The DBA / ETL Specialist conducts database administration, installation, and maintenance of operational, test and development database systems. They will be responsible for ETL operations and the management of these processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Routine database maintenance, installation, and configuration 
  • Establish, Monitor and Maintain ETL processes to move data through the system 
  • Database performance monitoring 
  • Security policy configuration and administration 
  • Replication administration 
  • Analyze system and user requirements 
  • Space management and planning 
  • Upgrades and new implementations 
  • Ensure the operation and security of all Database environments 
  • Act as contact for Mission Critical transaction processing database servers 
  • Perform troubleshooting for system and database related problems 
  • Ensure corporate release and security policies are adhered to 
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting 
  • Audit and maintain security levels consistent with the Security Policies. 
  • Performing intrusion testing, identifying & correcting security vulnerabilities and implementing security related software 
  • Enhance existing and recommend new technologies to improve company efficiency and quality 
  • Provide technical assistance to all staff 
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


The person successfully performing this role will exhibit the following competencies and /or meet the following minimum requirements: 

 

  • Principles of relational database systems and architectures 
  • Solid understanding of the SQL language and current trends in technology and architecture 
  • Minimum of 4 years as a SQL Server DBA 
  • 2 to 4 years of Pervasive/SSIS or other Data Manipulation software 
  • Knowledge of operating systems, Servers, and networking components 


Ability to:

  • Troubleshoot database performance issues

  • Resolve problems associated with new and legacy software and hardware running on various platforms 

 

  • Test / Implements / Recommends upgrades, patches, and service packs 
  • Implements new database applications, databases and hardware 
  • Provides technical support and guidance to users 
  • Working experience with storage technologies including SAN, NAS 
  • Excellent verbal, written, listening and interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrated Dependability 
  • Bachelor Degree and / or equivalent prior experience in a technical discipline 
  • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and support of our Database systems 
  • Provides troubleshooting skill for customer's problems and resolves issues including tuning queries 
  • In depth understanding of database programming such as triggers and stored procedures 
  • Reviews and deploys Database related code in Development, QA and Production 
  • Provides technical Database administration oversight 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously 
  • At least 4-5 years hands on experience working with MS SQL 2000/2005. 
  • COGNOS experience a plus. 
  • MCDBA certification, COGNOS certification a plus

This position will be required to support multiple locations.
