Cognos Report Analyst

Position Summary:
Works with business users, analysts and data warehouse architects to gather specifications for data and report requirements
Develops reports independently, and works in a team environment
Responsible for analyzing and developing high level Cognos reporting functions
Assist in design of technical specifications and report architecture
Performs unit testing and completes all technical documentation
Ensures that code and documentation is readable and up to date in code management systems
Corrects software defects as reported by the customers
Keeps management well informed of all activities and of any significant problems or concerns

The successful candidate must have hands-on experience in:
 
Effectively translating end user reporting requirements into technical design documents
Creating, Maintaining, Optimizing and supporting new and existing simple and complex reports with graphs using Cognos Report Studio (Cognos 8)
Event Studio, Analysis Studio & Query Studio
With dimensional reporting and modeling
Responsibilities Include:
Support of customer dashboard reports, Verification and reconciliation of data
Timely availability of automate cube builds and scheduled reports
Systematically identifying and defining problems, evaluate alternatives and implement effective solutions

Database administration and design would be a plus
Healthcare experience and EDI knowledge would be a plus

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None (From time to time, may serve as a team leader / Architect)

  • Product Management
  • QA staff
  • Network Operations Staff
  • Client Support Staff
  • Implementation Staff

Qualifications:
Understanding of Cognos methodologies and tool sets
Minimum of 4 years reporting design and coding
Proven experience in working with development teams with a complete SDLC
Ability to recognize and recommend product improvement opportunities
Ability to provide time estimates for development tasks.

Travel:
Occasional travel necessary although very unlikely
